Our approach

How we recommend

AI Business Advisor exists to be a source small businesses can trust: we recommend what's best for your business, even when that means keeping what you have, spending less, or using something we don't offer. Here's how recommendations are made, and where they can still go wrong.

What we promise

  1. Best fit for you, not for us. Every recommendation is judged on your industry, size, budget and the tools you already use. Often the best answer is to keep your current tool, or to turn on a feature you already pay for.
  2. No quotas. We don't have to recommend a certain number of tools or toolkits. If nothing on our site fits a problem well, we say so and describe what to look for instead.
  3. The trade-offs, up front. Each option shows its cost, setup time, what you need before you start, and its downsides, not just its strengths. You see every step and every account you'll need before you sign up for anything.
  4. Every recommendation explained. "Why we recommend this for your business" ties each pick to something we found about you.
  5. Sources and dates. Research findings link to their sources. Prices are labeled as estimates with the month they were checked, with a link to confirm on the vendor's own site.
  6. The right reviews. Ratings come from business-software review sites (G2, Capterra, GetApp, TrustRadius, Software Advice), where businesses that use a tool review it, not from consumer sites where the reviews are mostly about a business's customers.
  7. No paid placement. No vendor pays to be recommended or ranked, and we don't use affiliate links. If that ever changes, it will be labeled on the recommendation itself.
  8. Your feedback checks us. Every recommendation asks "Was this right for you?". We review the answers and fix recommendations that keep missing.

How it works

  1. We research your business from your website, your profile and the web: what you do, who you serve, the software you use, and where businesses like yours are using AI.
  2. We match what we found to tools, toolkits and courses that genuinely fix a problem, and say what to look for when nothing on our site does.
  3. When you choose a tool, we first judge the one you use today (how you use it and how well it works) and recommend switching only when there's a clear gain.
  4. We fit the advice to your industry. For example, a dental or medical practice needs scheduling that syncs with its practice software and protects patient information, so general booking tools rate lower there than for a consultant or a salon.

Where we can still be wrong

Our own services

Some pages offer "Done for you" (or "Do it for me"): AI Business Advisor sets it up and installs it for you at $95 an hour. Each offer shows the estimated hours and total up front, and we confirm the estimate with you before any work starts. Software subscriptions are paid to each vendor, not to us. It's always optional and shown next to the free, do-it-yourself steps, never instead of them, and it doesn't change what we recommend: our pick can be a product we don't set up, or no new product at all.

Questions or a recommendation that seems off? Use "Was this right for you?" on any recommendation, or email info@aibusinessadvisor.org.
